Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela will hold a major residency in London this summer, continuing their celebrations of 50 years since José Antonio Abreu founded the groundbreaking social project "El Sistema" in Caracas, Venezuela in 1975.
The residency, which includes concerts, recordings and educational projects, commences August 22nd, with 10x shows at Wembley Stadium, performing alongside Coldplay in the main set, and a stand alone symphonic opening act, for Coldplay's highly-anticipated, sold out Music of the Spheres tour.
On August 28, at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, the orchestra and Gustavo Dudamel will perform a program of works by Bernstein and Falla, including the rip-roaring Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. This will be the Bolívars' first performance at Royal Festival Hall in nearly a decade.
Additionally, the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela and Gustavo Dudamel will record at Abbey Road Studios and at the Roundhouse, collaborating with classical and pop stars for their upcoming, highly anticipated recording releases on DGG and Platoon.
