Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which has paralyzed live performances across the world, Gustavo Dudamel has continued to spread light and healing through live performance. Gustavo will conduct Beethoven’s immortal Symphony No. 9 in two concerts that celebrate humanity in the face of COVID-19, in a performance with the Galician Symphony Orchestra at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona on Friday, September 18 and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid at the Teatro Real in Madrid on Saturday, September 19. Both performances will also include extraordinary student musicians from the Reina Sofía School of Music, in collaboration with the Gustavo Dudamel Foundation, to celebrate the brotherhood of humanity by encouraging young people to perform, stay inspired, and build a better future. The quartet will feature the soprano Susanne Elmark, the mezzo Aigul Akhmetshina, the tenor Leonardo Capalbo and the bass José Antonio López.
