Following December performances of Tchaikovsky’s timeless Nutcracker and Wagner’s towering operatic masterpiece Tristan und Isolde, in the New Year Gustavo and the LA Phil will be joined by pianist Yuja Wang for a two-week focus on the piano concertos of Rachmaninoff. In May, Gustavo and the LA Phil give two world premieres by composers Ellen Reid and Gabriella Smith, followed by performances of Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony, and the composer’s Piano Concerto No. 27, featuring peerless Mozart interpreter Mitsuko Uchida.
